Maha Shivratri Divya Mahapuja

Kalinath Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple stands on the banks of the Beas (Vyas) River, near Pragpur in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh — often called the "Mini Haridwar of Himachal." The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, revered as the Maha Rudra of Mata Chintpurni, and is situated on the banks of the River Beas. A key feature that draws people here is the Shivling, which is said to sink by the size of a barley grain each year, leading to the prophecy that when it fully submerges, Kalyug will come to an end. Legend holds that when Shiva summoned Mahakali's fierce power to destroy demons in Satyayuga, her rage would not subside until Shiva himself lay beneath her feet on the banks of the Beas — and it is from this act that the name Kalinath Kaleshwar Mahadev arose. The temple is also linked to the Pandavas, who are believed to have poured the holy waters of Haridwar, Prayag, Ujjain, Nashik and Rameswaram into a nearby pond, giving bathers here the merit of a Panchtirthi bath. The temple draws its largest crowds on Maha Shivratri.
